WHISKYWith the cold weather, the Holidays and New Year festivities just around the corner, here are some spirit suggestions to heat up your season celebrations. Your friends and family members should enjoy these fine high quality spirits.

If you’re looking for gifts in the last home stretch before Christmas, fine spirits are perfect for the Holiday season. These lovely bottles should enhance your celebrations and family gatherings. And if you’re lucky the bottles might be opened when you are around.

Here is a selection high quality spirits, in some cases a tad more expensive, but let’s not forget, tis the Holiday season!

Uva Viva di Poli, Jacopo Poli, 40% Italy, 57,75 $ 454199

Jacopo Poli is an outstanding distiller reputed for his remarkable grappas, but also produces high quality spirits. For the fan of youthful, crystal clear, unoaked eau-de-vies, this superb Uva Viva is a winner! Intense fruity nose displaying pear and mandarine. Offering a seductive velvety texture and good length, this excellent eau-de-vie should be served neat and slightly chilled. Score : 92/100

Vodka Belvedere 40% Polmos Zyrardow, Poland 46,75 $ 437772

An excellent upscale vodka that should be served neat and chilled. Made entirely with Polish rye and distilled four times, it displays grain aromas, a velvety texture and a comforting warm finish. Score : 91/100

For an excellent dry martini :

Tanqueray No. Ten London Dry Gin, Tanqueray 47,3%, England 43,75$ 600163

The Tanqueray Ten announces 47,3 % alcohol, which gives it more body, intensity and richness. A superb gin intensely aromatic that displays vegetal and geneva berry scents. Serve it neat and chilled or with a bit of ice to tone down the alcohol and enhance its seductive velvety texture. Score : 93/100

Three whiskies to serve with smoked salmon :

Johnny Walker Green Label 15 years Scotch Whisky, Scotland 12591371 70 $

A superb blend of whiskies from the Cragganmore (Speyside), Coal Ila (Islay), Talisker (Skye) and Linkwood (Highlands) distilleries. Caramel, dried fruits with hints of smoke and seaweed. Rich, complex and smooth, this « blend » will seduce the fan of Pure Malt whiskies. Score : 90/100

Cragganmore 12 years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40% Scotland 77,75 $ 192732

From the highly sought district of Speyside, Cragganmore is well known and greatly appreciated by the whisky industry professionals. This reputed sub-region from the Highlands produces elegant but flavourful whiskies. Complex nose with hints of cider, calvados, butterscotch and smoke. Score : 94/100

Talisker 10 years Isle of Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky 45,8 % Scotland 79$ 249680

For the Single Malt fan that enjoys full bodied and intense whiskies. From the Isle of Skye, Talisker wreaks of smoke and seaweed. Displaying extreme character, this excellent whisky also delivers velvety sweet flavours. A rich and flavourful Single Malt that is reminiscent of whiskies from Islay. Score : 95/100

Appleton Estate Extra 12 years Amber, Jamaica 37,50 $ 00105742

A deeply colored rum. Its nose displays scents of sweet oak, nuts, caramel, vanilla and spices. Full bodied and velvety, rich and flavourful, serve this lovely rum neat or with just a bit of ice to refresh it. Excellent! Score : 92/100
