Prices for northern Rhône valley wines have skyrocketed in the last ten years. Saint-Peray has become the go to white from this region for many sommeliers and influencers. A classic blend of Marsanne (70%) and Roussanne (30%) displaying obvious new oak, enhanced by honey, apple and flowery scents. Medium bodied with good volume, soft acidity and a hint of bitterness add freshness and assure balance. Quite flavourful, with good length, it will marry perfectly with a grilled salmon trout. Close neighbour to Burgundy, the region of Franche-Comté, (like many cooler areas in the wine world), benefits from global warming. The Pinots produced have riper flavours and more depth.
