Offered for the last time @Les Conseillers du Vin! A very reputed vintage, 2000 was a year blessed with ideal climatic conditions. A sun soaked vintage that produced intense ripe reds that remain fresh and perfectly balanced. From the outset, the 2000 Bordeaux, were ripe and full, with good structure and lots of extract.  Having reached their maturity plateau, many Chateaux offer great complexity and charm as they continue to age gracefully. A selection of reputed Chateaux from different communes will permit us to evaluate the level of quality and maturity of this outstanding Bordeaux vintage at age twenty five!

Almost perfect weather throughout the growing season enabled producers to craft rich, intense and perfectly balanced reds. Less tannic than 18, more intense than 19, with more extract than 20, the 2022’s offer perfectly ripe fruit, a solid structure, remarkable length, perfect balance and amazing aging potential (30 to 50 years)! Another hot vintage, with cool nights that maintained the necessary acidity to assure balance, freshness and aging potential. The whites generally faired very well in 2023. Quality is widespread, all sub-regions succeeded in producing high quality typical whites. The 2023 whites show perfectly ripe flavours, fresh acidity, good balance, surprising length and good aging potential. Unfortunately, prices remain high for the elite whites of Burgundy. The wines chosen for this tasting should confirm the high quality level and aging potential of this excellent white Burgundy vintage.

According to many experts, the Southern Rhone, but especially Châteauneuf-du-Pape, benefited in 2022 from Mother Nature’s generosity. Châteauneuf-du-Pape produced rich wines of great complexity, surprising elegance and amazing aging potential. Despite high alcohol levels, the wines are surprisingly easy drinking.  Even consumers that usually stay away from full bodied, rich, robust reds might be seduced by the elegance of these remarkable Châteauneufs! These well balanced CDP’s should satisfy the fan of Grenache based reds.
